Canalboat progress and other delight

I finally finished Part 3 of the canalboat CAL! Last night I was trying to finish an audiobook that was going to return this morning. I was (re)listening to Remarkably Bright Creatures. I loved it just as much.  I listened almost nonstop to finish it before I fell asleep last night, while making dinner, cleaning the kitchen, mopping the living room and kitchen and finally doing a little crochet. It felt happy and peaceful crocheting along, listening to the book. Something I need to do more of.

So anyway here is my part 3 progress. I wove in the the ends from part 3. Snapped a couple pics and moved right on to Part 4. Sadly it does seem to be increasing in width. Hopefully I can figure out what I'm doing wrong there. I must have added a few stitches somewhere along the line. 😂 It doesn't bother me enough to rip it out as long as I can stop it from happening for here on out.

I wasn't sure how I felt about the colors going but it's growing on me I guess. And I am enjoying the process.

Yesterday our work neighbor brought us this lovely bouquet from his garden. Peonies are some of my favorite flowers.

In addition a friend stopped in just to say Hello at the end of the day, as she had walked down to the post office (which is across the street). We chatted for a few minutes and she told me how she had run into Hannah at a play last weekend. Which Hannah had also told me, she text me right away that she had seen KP one of our favorites. 💖

Happy Tuesday! I hope you partake in something today that brings you peace and joy.

Thankful Thursday

Mother's Day bouquet from my son.

My neighbors lilacs- lilacs always remind me of my grandmothers 💖

Yummy (and healthy) Lemon Blueberry Muffins for breakfast.

One of my happy places, I just love the creek that runs through our town. Just being by the water for a few minutes feel so therapeutic for me. I think its time to get back to my daily runs on the creekwalk.  Last night I was able to sit and chat here with Jess for a while. <3

I'm reading this book in my devotional time.  I'm very much enjoying it. Very thought provoking about stepping out and loving your neighbors and your community.  I also just love the cover. =)
“We might have a zillion reasons to be jaded about our world, but that is not the kind of person I want to be. I want to be someone who clings to the grace and the gift and the good. Rather than spend my days scanning the digital horizon for a dopamine hit of false comfort, I want to keep my ear tuned to the groanings of my place. I want to stand ready, as Christ’s ambassador in my neighborhood, wearing grace, flesh, and skinny jeans. I want to belong, just as I am, and I want to get better at loving people for every good and puzzling thing they are.”
The book also speaks of remembering that every person- is also made in the image of God. This very theme was in my pastor's message two weeks ago. When we are out and about, or at work or where ever we need to remember that person weencounterr is made in the image of God and dearly loved.  How would this change how we interact with people. Pray for people, love people....

I give you a new command: Love one another.
Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another.

Grandma's

Yesterday Hannah and I went to Grandma's. Grandma suggested that we go out into the yard and pick some wildflowers that were growing. Hannah eagerly complied. Grandma found an old jelly jar in the basement for Hannah to use a a vase. Later that evening Hannah's flowers were proudly displayed our center piece on the dinner table.

how does your garden grow

I am an amateur gardener, at best. But it makes me so happy. This is the first Spring we have had a yard of our very own! It gave me such delight to see the bulbs I planted in the fall spring to life, along with the flowers I planted last summer returning.

This morning while Hannah was in school I wandered the gardening section of Walmart. I had a gift card to put to use, the gift giver had intended to buy gardening goods but my birthday was too early in the season apparently. Wink I left with a greenhouse tray and oodles of seed packets. Big Smile Four of the packets were different varities of sunflowers! And also a pretty blue ceramic pot which maybe destined for my african violet. I have not decided for sure, but it was my favorite color and too pretty to pass up!!
