89 Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah 10/4 (print/borrowed)★★★★
I borrowed this book off my sister's bookshelf when I was staying at her house to take care of the nephews. I read this book because Kristin Hannah and I loved the Netflix series, I'm on the third watch through. The book follows Tully and Kate- who become best friends in middle/high school and through their college and growing up years. It definitely has all the same vibes as the series although some details are changed.
Best friends forever. They'd believed it would last, that vow, that someday they'd be old women, sitting in their rocking chairs on a creaking deck, talking about the times of their lives, and laughing...
Where there is life, there is hope, and where there is love, there is
forgiveness.
One thing I can tell you for sure is this: we only regret what we don’t do in life.

It took a little while to get into, I think mainly because so much time passed since I read Fourth Wing and it took me awhile to remember what was happening. But once I did I flew through it- especially once I got my new Kindle Paperwhite! It's hard to talk about a sequel without giving spoilers but I enjoyed it just as much as the first book- knocking off a star for the same reasons (language and very open door romance). The next one doesn't come out until January! Hopefully I'll still remember what's happening by then.
Violence, remember it's only the body that's fragile. You are unbreakable.
Me? Argue with you about books? I only pick fights I can win.
91 Secondary Target by Angela Carlisle 10/11 (print/own)★★★★
I won this book in a giveaway from the publisher, I think, earlier this year. It's been sitting on my night stand ever since. So I picked it for my church book club to read this month. It was an anxiety inducing thriller for me. I had to keep reading to find out what happens! Phew. I did not see the ending coming at all.

A random fun, sweet fantasy romance. I'm not even sure how I heard about it but I thoroughly enjoyed it. During a rebellion in the capital city The Great Library is set on fire, librarian Keila flees with a boat full of books and her trusty assistant Caz, a sentient spider plant. She winds up heading to an outlying island she was born on, hoping to lay low. But of course she becomes entangled with her neighbor and enmeshed in the community. A story of found family and second chances, magic and mystical creatures of every kind.
It wasn’t that she didn’t like people. It was only that she liked books more.
Books should be shared with everyone who wants to open their minds and hearts to them.
She didn’t really know anything about running a shop or magic or jam… But I do know books - and that meant there was nothing she couldn’t know, eventually. That was magic in and of itself.
You know, plants aren't nearly as emotionally exhausting as humans. You should try to be more plant.

Light, fun slightly spicy fall romance read. Jeanie moves to town to take over her aunt's coffee shop. Logan is a local farmer. It seems someone is trying to deter Jeanie from staying in town. Logan helps her figure out who is trying to sabotage her coffee shop, and its a romance so you know... 💖
It was hibernating season. Pajamas were perfectly appropriate.
94 This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune 10/23 (kindle/library)★★★★

My first time reading a book by this author, it was on the MMD SRG and then also Bri McKoy picked it for her October cook's club book club pick. I really knew nothing going in. It ended up being a delight, set in part on Prince Edward Island with some Anne of Green Gables tie-ins which put it over the top for me. This is a romance and has a few pretty open door scenes FYI.
“I’m not usually a beer drinker, Felix.” “It’s a blueberry ale, made here on the island. Try it.” I took a sip. It was ice cold and slightly tart.
Felix hasn’t seen us yet. He’s absorbed in his book. There’s almost always a paperback tucked into the back of his jeans. He goes through them quickly.
It's how I learned that the families we make are as significant as the ones we're born into. It's how I learned that the greatest loves are not always romances.

From MMD SRG- loved this! A story of forgiveness, second chances, found family, love and books. Our main characters are Harriet, a retired school teacher now leading a prison book club, Violet who is being released from prison after killing a kindergarten teacher in a drunk driving accident, and Frank, the husband of the kindergarten teacher.
I am a reader. I am intelligent. I have something worthy to contribute.
As so often happened in Book Club, Harriet felt a stirring of belonging, her foibles fitted to a more forgiving spectrum of human striving.
All at once, Harriet began to laugh. “Oh my God, Frank, is this a caper?” Her face took on a childlike glow. “Have we just pulled off a caper?”
96 The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman 10/25 (print/library)★★★
Book club pick for LBC. It was ok, slow going and seemed like it took forever to read! There's a lot of characters to keep track of and I hear it’s better once you get to know the characters. Wondering if the 2nd book would have better flow? I probably would not have finished it if it wasn't a book club pick and turns out I am the only one who did :P
We all have a sob story, but we don't all go around killing people.
I know the difference between alone and lonely, and Bernard is lonely. There is a cure for that.
97 The Lost Story by Meg Shaffer 10/29 (kindle/library)★★★★
I don't know how I found this book, maybe just came across it on Goodreads. It was an unexpected delight. Inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia, I know am wanting to read the whole Narnia series. Who hasn't at times wished to slip through a doorway to another world. At the beginning of this book our two main characters, 15 year old best friends are found after being missing for 6 months. Where were they for those 6 months and what happened to them... 15 years later they are drawn back together to help find a missing girl who had disappeared in those same woods, many years before. *It does involve a LGBTQ+ romance.

52 Bookclub: 40/52- I am starting to get nervous about finishing this- 12 to go so I have to read 6 each in the next two months to finish by the end of the year- do able, but sometimes my mood reading gets in the way- any recommendations for a neurodivergent author or a self insert by an author?
