Hello again...

Hello friends. I haven't felt much like sharing lately.

But Saturday we had a little sister coffee date.  We didn't take any pictures- I stole a couple off the internet. And while the coffee was good and we had a good chat, it wasn't my favorite.

We went to Salt City Coffee in the city near my sister's library. We both got the Lucky Charms latte and were a little disappointed it was simply poured from the tap with nothing to make it fancy. No whip cream, no luck charms cereal = sadness.

The coffee shop itself was crowded with college students so we wandered out through the thrift shop (promising to come back) to the common area upstairs to find a quiet table at which to sit and chat (ie complain about life). The weather that week had been particularly icky- cold, gloomy, rainy and it added to our angst.

We headed to the thrift store, I didn't find much that caught my eye but Laura came away with some treasures. Including a cute brand new with tags pink skirt. Score!

After I got home I mixed up a loaf of sourdough, which I baked in the morning. And baked a Sourdough Carrot Cake Loaf to take to church for coffee time in the morning.

My friend said I should take a picture with my sourdough like men take pictures with the fish they catch. So I had Ryan snap a picture before I sliced it up for lunch.

We had to stop by my sister's house in the afternoon and Rhett engaged with the nephews in some sword play.

Two great reads from April so far.

The boys are very happy it is now light enough to resume our early morning walks.

They thank me by barely leaving me any room in bed.

Hannah spent some time with Mikayla and all her fur babies the other day.

While I finally made a recipe I had been wanting to for quite some time.  Chicken Parmesan Meatballs. From What's Gaby Cooking. They were delish! It's kinda hard to see in the picture but they are stuffed with mozzarella cheese.

I guess that's all for now. Looking forward to celebrating the resurrection with my Church Family on Sunday. 💙

An impromptu sister coffee date and thrifting

My weekend didn't 100% go as planned. Weather played a major roll.  I'm feeling pretty over the winter weather. This has been the coldest and snowiest January we have had in a while. I am thankful for everyday the roads are clear and we are edging closer to spring!

Friday night we had a Ladies Spa Night at our church. We had a very low turn out because of the crappy weather but a marvelous time with those who were there.

Saturday was super cold again and coupled with the snow and slush from Friday night Laura and I decided to bail on our run.  Just has I was thinking about what to do with my day instead Laura texted to see if I'd like to meet up and go thrifting. So we did! Our cousin and her family is coming through town on Friday and we are hosting a family dinner at our church. So our first stop was Dunkin' to have coffee and finish up plans for the dinner. We laughed about doing a sister coffee date at Dunkin!

The littlest nephew also joined in the fun.

After we firmed up our Friday dinner plans we headed to the thrifty shopper.  We came away with some great finds.
I got three baskets, two juice glasses, planner stickers (there were two packs the same and we both got one!) some graduation stickers/decor, a striped long sleeve super soft hoodie and a cozy new blanket for Chancer. (Bruno has already torn massive holes in the one I got him last time).

We hit up a couple grocery stores together and shopped for most of what we need for Friday.

Bruno was very happy once I was back home for the day.

I spent some time working on my sungold blanket... it's coming along. I still have a bit more to do on the border. I'd hoped to get more done but after dinner on Saturday I had a headache coming on so I ended up going to bed early.

My 2024 photobook came and I love it!

Sunday night brought more snow! There was probably 4 inches on my car when I came out of church.  Roads were iffy and anxiety inducing but I made it home safe and sound.

I made sourdough pretzel bites to bring to our Bible study group.  This is one of my favorite snacks right now.

That's my weekend in a nutshell. I hope your February is off to a good start!

Sister Coffee Date! Sugar Grove

Yesterday was our last sister coffee date of 2024, it was also the 2nd anniversary of our first sister coffee date!

We visited Sugar Grove Cafe & Bakery in Syracuse and found it a delight!

The interior was inviting and eclectic... It maybe one of my favorite shops we have visited.

Laura and I got nearly identical orders. The latte was definitely one of the best I have had- it was called "do you know the muffin man?" and was a gingerbread latte.  I also got a french toast breakfast sandwich.  I also loved that you mark your sandwich order on the bag, then they make it and bring it out to you.

We had a great chat- Laura asked me about my new year's goal and laughed when I pulled out three different drafts of my goals 😆

An added bonus- Parthenon Books is right down the street.  We had a great time perusing the books there.

From there we stopped in the Library and took a gander through Salt City Market across the street.

We finished up our day doing some thrifting, hitting the used bookstore and then the Brooklyn Pickle for lunch.

I ended up with quite the thrift haul- more on that in a future post... but I got all pictured below of less than $34 (Laura also gifted me her 20% off coupon and between that and discounted items I saved over $18!) Blanket for Chance, 3 sweaters, running jacket, 2 pair of pants (that fit!!) and a book.

Chance bliss. The blanket I bought for him ended up being just a length of fleece fabric but still serves the purpose.  Chancer loves to be cozy, we'll see how long we can keep Bruno from shredding this one.

My book haul - 1 new, 6 used and 3 library books

In 2024 we had 6 Sister Coffee dates, visiting 6 coffee shops in our area.  I am looking forward to seeing where 2025 brings us. ☕

November Sister Coffee Date

Saturday was on November Sister Coffee Date.

We went to Recess Coffee on Tipp Hill in Syracuse. It was a bustling little shop. I loved it. It was nestled in the heart of a neighborhood.

We found a spot in the corner with a dinosaur in the monstera plant and waited for our order to be called.

I love getting seasonal things and we both opted to try the Teddy Graham Latte. Honestly it was a little disappointing- I mean it was good coffee- but I wouldn't have classified it as Teddy Graham, but then when I reached to bottom of my cup there was all the cinnamon and honey- so maybe it had just needed a good stir.

We also both got the classic breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. Delightful.

We talked about all the things and set some action points for this week, to help us strive for the life we want.

After the coffee shop we popped into the cute boutique next door.

I got the boys some cookies, they were super excited for!

In the afternoon we did a little thrifting with our niece. It was fun spending some quality time with her.  We spent the evening at my house, the mister cooked up some fish tacos for us.  It was a lovely evening, much laughter and enjoyment with family.

Today I am excited to start this study- I didn't get to it this morning as I spent an extra hour in prayer for the election and our country as part of the 24 hour prayer vigil with our church.  So I'll be starting tonight and tomorrow will get back on my regular quiet time schedule.
