Today will be better

Yesterday was a bit of a day. Mostly internal issues and bad attitude. Today will be better-
and my cup of tea in the morning insures that it's going to be a wonderful day!:

Started off  today with a run and the Moana soundtrack. <3
We LOVE running by the creek =)

Today's happy picture... even though Chancey is making a doofy face in it.

Chance hates taking selfies

This was a big part of the problem yesterday- I'm working on it, along with the attitude.

Yesterday's #100happydays pic. Reading Quiet - it talked a bit about Eleanor Roosevelt, the things I read endeared her to me and I put her autobiography on hold at the library for my next read...

I signed up for a September race- The Teal Ribbon Run. There is a coupon code today and the price also goes up tomorrow, if anyone is interested in running. ;-) Message me I will send you the code.

When I got in the van this morning there was a CD laying facedown on the floor. It was my Ladies Retreat mix I made after retreat one year.  I listened to it on the way to work and am now contemplating going to retreat this fall. It falls on Mikayla's birthday so that her plans are a major contributing factor...

Happy Friday! Can you believe tomorrow is JULY!?!?

Looking out my window
The sun is shining, it was a little chilly this morning when I went for a run,
but seems to be warming up a bit.

I am thinking
about Mikayla's graduation party.
Trying to figure out all the details.

I am thankful
I'm not doing to well at this as of late. But....
* a night home to sew
* snuggles with the pup
* grilled chicken and veggies
* 4th of July plans...even though they're on the 2nd

One of my favorite things

I am creating
I finished the top of  Mikayla's graduation quilt.
Now I have just have to get backing and batting and decide how to proceed with quilting.
Chance was super helpful per usual.
Not perfect but overall it looks OK as long as you don't look too close ;-P

My other quilt project is kinda stalled, hoping to pick it up again soon.

I am reading
Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking
I'm planning to stop in the library tonight, so we'll see what happens after that!

In my kitchen
Its payday so my kitchen is in desperate need of groceries!
I left instructions for each of my kids to plan a dinner for next week.
We'll see how that goes...

Closing Notes:
A couple summers ago I did this challenge with my best friend. 100 happy days.
I decided to do it again to cultivate a better attitude this summer.

Books!

Sunday night at bedtime I started this book. I finished it off this morning before work. I knew there wasn't even enough left to last through my lunch break so I made sure to finish it this morning.

There are actually some holes on my Full Shelf! Maybe I will finally empty it this year! I've only been working on this challenge for TWO YEARS! Of course once its empty I can fill it again ;-)

I got notified a cookbook I have on hold at the library is in...which of course means I will come home with more books than I can possible read. :-P

This morning I picked up this to read- my sister gave it to me a couple Christmases ago and I started it but never finished it...

I'm very much enjoying getting lost in books again- instead of my phone!

the weekend!

She's graduated! So crazy. The ceremony was great, Mikayla had a solo with the select choir. I have watched it a million times ;-) I'm glad she gave me heads up and said "you have to record this song!"

She's so beautiful and talented... takes my breath away.

I may or may not have had a little bit of an identity crisis on Saturday morning as I was texting my sister about Mikayla's graduation and my children being on the brink of being grown.  A little prematurely since Hannah still has 8 years of school to go. But then Mikayla's 17 years flew by more quickly than I can even fathom. Mom has been my main identity for almost 18 years now- who will I be when there are no longer littles to be shuttled around.

My sister told me take up marathon running :-P

My SS class yesterday....

Our church honored all the graduates yesterday- they each got one of these huge chocolate chip cookies. Mikayla chomped into hers after dinner.

This morning Chance and I happened upon this gnome home on our run.

A little Monday Motivation- :-P

Boy oh boy! Do I love getting emails like this! I earned Level 1 of the NEW Fall products FREE! Can't wait to find out what they are! I'm still hoping I might hit Level 2 this month, we'll see... I have a few virtual parties wrapping up this week.

I finished A Dog's Purpose last night and started Those Girls, a book Rhett gave me for Christmas.  It makes me happy to see my book chart being filled!

It's today!

I can't believe it, my sweet little Miss Mik is all grown up! My mama heart is so sad, and so proud. It feels like the end. I know its not. The end of something is just the beginning of something else... I'm sure we still have many adventures before us. Today is definitely the end of an era though.  Just the mere thought brings me to tears. She has been my right hand girl for the last 17 years. I'm not looking forward to August 25, that's for sure.

She has grown into such a lovely young woman. She makes me to proud. Kind, funny, smart, beautiful.

I had to stop for a little pick me up on my way to work. There may or may not have been a chocolate pretzel donut in that bag . . .

"Often when you are at the end of something, you're at the beginning of something else.
I've felt that many times. My hope for all of us is that 'the miles we go before we sleep' will be filled with all the feelings that come from deep caring- delight, sadness, joy, wisdom-
and that in all endings of our life, we will be able to see the new beginnings."

the days are long but . . .

It's here- I can't believe it. This morning Mikayla had graduation rehearsal. Picked up her cap and gown and our tickets.  It all has a very surreal feeling to it.

Just last  night this guy got contacts. He is pretty pleased about it.

My burgers and shakes from Tuesday night- YUM!

We made a LIVE video of the Shake-->> Amy's Pampered Kitchen- S'mores Shake

Tuesday was also Ryan's 8th Grade Formal.

Our baby birds under our deck. =) We are enjoying observing them each day.  So far Mama has tolerated our interest. This just in: I spoke with Hannah and she says they are out of the nest and learning to fly! They grow up so fast! :P

Happy SUMEMER! Yesterday was the first day of summer and today is the last day of school. Tomorrow of course is graduation....

And now I'm thinking about making the most of summer, Mikayla's graduation party, goals and bucket lists... What on your list this summer?  Two requests from my girls so far. The Zoo and The Clayground (a local paint your own pottery place).

For Today {Tuesday, June 20}

Linked up with Peggy at the Simple Woman's Daybook

Looking out my window ~ It looks kinda gloomy out there. I hear possible thunderstorms for the afternoon.

I am thinking ~ That I wish I could freeze time today. I'm not ready for what's coming at the end of the week. (Graduation, gasp!) Yesterday she connected with her new room mate for the fall. Tonight is Ryan's 8th grade formal. Yesterday was Hannah's 4th grade picnic, celebrating the end of elementary school! She came home with her Class of 2025 Tshirt ... that too will be here before we know it. ugh. tears.

I am thankful ~ for my children. And my husband. Listening to some conversations last night. I recognize again how blessed I am with the family I grew up in, and the family I have now.

One of my favorite things

I am reading ~ Cross Roads...  still... hopefully will finish it in the next couple days.

I am hoping ~ good things for Mikayla. I know her future is bright. Praying all the best for her as she heads out into the world.

I am learning ~ to trust, to be content, to pray about everything...

In my kitchen ~ inspired by last night's Burgers & Shakes Pampered Chef Party, I'm making burgers for dinner and a special Tasty Tuesday edition of Amy's Pampered Kitchen will feature Milkshakes in the Manual Food Processor later tonight.

A moment from my day ~ Friday night was Hannah's  piano recital. She did amazing. Love this kid.

Closing Notes: more ice cream anyone... I made some vanilla ice cream to go with my dessert for our Father's Day celebration at mom and dad's on Saturday.

The paddle covered in ice cream- YUM!

Friday

Another last ~ last night was the last night of Girl Scouts for these three. Craziness.  I'm thankful the rain held off until the end of our get together last night.

This morning I got some upsetting news about someone dear to me.  I have been in almost constant prayer- yet God keeps reminding me of his grace and provision. Two songs in particular this morning on KLove- Even If by Mercy Me and Throne Room by Kim Walker-Smith had tears rolling down my cheeks as I drove.
"I know You're able and I know You can

Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don't
My hope is You alone
I know the sorrow, I know the hurt
Would all go away if You'd just say the word
But even if You don't
My hope is You alone
It is well with my soul

It is well, it is well with my soul"

~from Even If by Mercy Me
Hope More:

This is from the Sold Out study today and truly my prayer, that Jesus would be evident in my life.  That people would see His Light in me.
