ToL 7.26

Slow down and notice the little things. From Only Love Today by Rachel Macy Stafford, I have been reading this along with my devotions this week.

Run today.  It rained on us. Chance wasn't terribly happy about that. I was feeling pretty discouraged. We have a 10K on Saturday that I am feeling so very unprepared for, not to mention I need to get my butt in gear for Half Marathon training. Ugh. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever feel like a successful runner.

We hit Trader Joe's last night and picked up the goodies to make bbq sliders again. In the crock pot as I type ;-) It's nice to have dinner ready after work.

I also finally broke down and bought cookie butter... I have been wanting to try it forever. Today it is paired with the homemade jam from my SIL's bridal shower 😍

Yesterday I asked God to give me a discerning heart. For wisdom to know when there was something that need addressed and when it was just me spiraling out of control- the devil fanning the flames all the while.  This morning I saw this. . . 😉😍😊 God is Good.

Another day and a half and we are on vacation! I am so ready for a break. . . weary body and soul. If you think of us pray the God's hand would rest upon this time, that it would be a time of rest, renewal and re-connection. 💗💓💗

Fear is a LIAR

This morning I woke up tired. My legs were sore. I wanted to stay in bed. I reached for my phone to check the weather and realized it was supposed to be raining all morning. Chance hates the rain. Maybe it was a good day for a "rest day".  I got up to go the bathroom and realized it was indeed raining. I let Chance out, he happily went back to snoozing on the couch given the dreary weather. I headed back to bed hoping to sleep for another half hour or so.

That's when the anxiety and fear began to settle in my heart. Get up, make your coffee, spend the extra time with God. Is what I heard, so I did.

It wasn't long before God's peace began to seep back into my soul. He is with me. I am loved. He is at work in my life and in my marriage.  Nothing is impossible with God.  Prayer is indeed powerful and effective. My heart is full, thankful, hopeful.

Later when I checked my email I saw more confirmation of God's Truth. 💗  He is listening and He cares.

Monday night Hannah and I went to a vegetarian cooking demo at the library. It was billed as a "class" and we both expected it to be more hands on. But we still enjoyed it and hope to do it again. We were introduced to Jackfruit. We have seen the whole fruit at the store- it is huge and scary looking. Very intimidating. But they used canned, which is far more do-able. They made pulled "pork" (jackfruit) sliders and they were delish!

It is basically the jackfruit shredded up, seasoned with 21 seasoning salute (from trader joe's) and then mixed with bbq sauce and heated through.  I haven't been a huge fan of a lot of vegetarian dishes but this was great!

The salad was Healthy 8 Chopped Veggie Mix and Trader Joe's Green Goddess dressing.  Also yummy. =)

Hannah and I were perusing Pinterest looking up more recipes for Jackfruit before we even left the library.

And just because... Dog. :-)

Happy Monday!
About how I'm feeling today too :P
We had a full, busy yet delightful weekend here. A bridal shower, two grad parties, grocery shopping and church.  We rented the *new* Jumanji movie from Redbox, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

This came up in my facebook memories today. A picture from the week I met the love of my life, 22 years ago.  16 and 17 years old... a life time ago.

Yesterday Chance turned 3 years old. It was also a HOT summer evening so we took him down the creek to play and cool off. We laughed like crazy watching his shenanigans in the cool water. This was probably the highlight of my weekend.

Happy pup-

Chance and I also had a nice run on Saturday, a lot of it by the creek too.  I just LOVE where we live. =)

Rock I saw in the creek walk. I almost brought it home but I didn't want to carry it for the remainder of the run.  So I left it for someone else to find.

Tonight starts VBS at our church. =)  So this is where we'll be every night this week. Crazy to think all my kids are now teaching or helpers!

Thought for today. . .

For Today {July 12, 2018}

Looking out my window
Sunday night we were privileged to attend wedding on Lake Ontario. I stole this picture from my sister-in-law ;-)  We had a truly amazing time.

I am thinking
About balance.  The struggle between being content but not complacent.  The hope of what can be and not getting lost in the "what if's and if's only's".  What's my purpose vs what's the point anyway...

I am thankful
  • Having the Mr home for dinner =) ❤❤❤
  • awesome weekend
  • morning run
  • Chance's expectant grin
  • time to read
  • cool, quiet peace of the early morning
  • devo time this week
One of my favorite things

I am reading
Three reads currently- I'd highly recommend all three.
I am learning
  • Fix your eyes on Jesus (from Hebrews 3:1)
  • Then you will know the TRUTH and the TRUTH will set you FREE (John 8:32 emphasis added)
  • also... perspective is everything...

A moment from my day
Monday night we had a girls night out to CoreLife Eatery, with my mom and sister. I had the Spicy Thai Chicken. It was super good and super spicy.

Our party order arrived! Always exciting when Pampered Chef boxes show up on my doorstep, even if its not all for me :P
Here's our goodies...
