happy

  • #86-- a birthday surprise, 1 month and 10 days early from one of my bestest friends ;)
Photobucket
  • #87-- Having my Mister back after a night away...as a Marine wife I used to scoff at people who would complain when their spouse was a way for short periods of time. After all there were times my husband was away for weeks and months at a time. But in recent years since being out of the military, getting rather used to having the guy around. I really truly missed him. I was exceedingly happy to see him walking in the door last night with this in hand...
  • #88-- Happy Valentine's Day
  • #89-- a gift from Valentine's Past...my pooch Riley... actually he gave him to me on Superbowl weekend 11 years ago... he wanted to give me a cocker spaniel, found this guy at the animal shelter but was worried he would not still be there in a couple weeks time on Valentines Day. He's starting too look a little worse for the wear. Going on thirteen and starting to look it. As you can tell from this picture, he is blind in one eye and nearly deaf. But he is still my puppy and I love him dearly. And he me. ;)

  • #91-- We embark on our honeymoon cruise this Saturday!! I can hardly believe it! That's in just TWO DAYS!!!

peace

My view today...
Photobucket

Today I am trying to drink it all in. Too not stress but enjoy every moment as it somes. My devo again referenced the Mary vs Martha story... I am thinking that this year will also be about peace, learning to sit at his feet.
But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:40-42

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you and watch over you.
Psalm 32:8

...Be still before the Lord...
Zechariah 2:13a

Trying to have my devo time when Hannah was tiny...I miss those days. :~D Look how serious her face is...likes like she's really studying her Baby Bible <3

my { heart }

Just this morning as I sat in my usual spot. At the kitchen table with my cup of coffee. Bible in hand I was thinking how much I love that time, that Book, the communing with God, watching as the sky changes from black, to gray, to blue. I love the feel of my Bible in my hands, the pages that are becoming wrinkled and worn, the tan-ish stains where coffee has spilled, the scribbles where a young Hannah has scrawled across the pages. The places I wrote little notes and prayers....

A bit later I was reading some random blogs, I came across this one...
http://www.MakeMeAMary.com
...I clicked on it (a) because her name is Amy and (b) the title was something about becoming a Mary. Which seems to be a reoccurring theme with me right now.

Her post was entitled Richer than I Thought. The post was not about money or anything of that nature. It was about the Bible and how many she and her family owned. She went on a hunt and photographed where she found each one. Her goal was to count up how many Bibles were in the household and donate to the cause of getting the Bible into every language on the earth.

I treasure God's Word so very much. Truly. It makes my heart sad to think of all those people who have never heard it, who don't even have to opportunity to own a Bible of their own. That one in their language does not even exist. :(

I went on a little hunt of my own. Where were the Bibles in our home. Mine was easy. It was still lying open on the kitchen table.

I found two more that belonged to me on my bookcase.

I know there are at least three more lurking around my bed somewhere. There is also one in my purse. That bring the tally to seven just for me!

The mister's is safely stowed on the bookcase as well. He also has one other one. I am not sure where it is. Perhaps still in a box somewhere.

Photobucket

Ryan's also was tucked in a bin/shelf with other books. He also sometimes leaves it in the van...so he knows where it is when its time for church on Sunday. I discouraged him from doing this since Church on Sunday is not the only time we are supposed to read God's Word.

Photobucket

Hannah's was sitting on a pile at the end of her bed.

Photobucket

She also has two Bible Storybooks next to her bed. We read a story together every night at bed time. Sadly though she is the only child I share this ritual with. This bothers me. I know I need to change it.

Photobucket

Mikayla's collection was too neatly stowed on her bookshelf. I counted four.
Photobucket

So all in all there are roughly 15 Bibles in our household. I intend to donate something to further His kingdom and bring the Word into the hands and language of every person. I want to find a way to inspire my family to treasure His Word. To realize how very rich we are.

a little closer...

I moved four more tubs and some other random miscellaneous junk out of mom and dad's house today. A year and a half after we have moved to our "new" house. But now we are little closer to being completely moved I guess, and mom and dad being able to reclaim the extra bedroom upstairs...

One of the tubs I found up in the attic had clothes in it that once belonged to Mikayla. Hannah was delighted when I hauled the tub into our living room and unveiled the contents. She gasped and ran over to examine the treasures. I sat and watched her delight, sweet memories of when Mikayla had cherished and worn those things running through my mind...

While Hannah was still in preschool I was also to visit one of my favorite places...Joann Fabrics. I was in search of backing fabric and batting for the Nephew's quilt. After a painstaking search I finally settled on one and had it cut.

So many fabrics were calling to me though....bright, cheery hues, just begging to be crafted into a lovely sundress or light, airy skirt... visions of Easter dresses are dancing in my head. Combine all those lovely textiles with the gorgeous spring like weather and I definitely have a case of spring fever!
