Autumn Book Tag

SK posted this over on her blog, naturally I jumped on the train.

What book always reminds you of fall/autumn? The Simplicity of Cider... even though I think its actually set in summer, in fact I first read it in summer. But the apple-y cover makes me want to come back to it every fall. In fact I just picked it up from the library and read the first chapter last night.

What is your favorite autumnal book cover? This one is calling my name! Hearts in Circulation

or this one- which I just saw on Goodreads If It Makes You Happy

What is your favorite autumnal drink to read with? I love apple cider, cold or warmed. Never going to turn down a pumpkin spice coffee or spiced chai either though.

Do you prefer to read late at night or early in the morning? All day, every day my friend

What is your favorite spooky read? Not a fan of spooky, but I do love Jaime Jo Wright's books. I'm looking forward to her new one coming out next month.

What is the ultimate comfort read for you? Probably Anne of Green Gables or the Outlander Series; also Like a Watered Garden - I still think about Mibby and Louise all the time. One more... The Reading List

What is your favorite autumnal reading snack? I love all the apple and pumpkin things

What is your favorite autumnal candle to burn while reading? Something spicy and warm

When you're not reading, what is your favorite autumnal activity? baking maybe a little crochet

What is on your autumn reading list?

Kids Cooking Club!

We had a great time on Saturday. I had 8 kids in 2 different classes.  We made Sheet Pan Tacos and Easy Peasy Guacamole. Highly recommend.

My crew ranged from 3 years to 13.  Including 4 nephews. I served the Moms cold brew coffee- naturally. ;)

I love all these kids so much! It gives me great delight to teach them to cook.

Towards the end Chance decided to take refuge in the much more peaceful back yard.

Next time we are making donuts and we're all pretty pumped about it!

Catching up on September!

I spent Labor Day catching up on some neglected housework, planning my next Kids Club class (tomorrow! Stay tuned!) and reorganizing my books! Well, not so much organizing as straightening, tidying and getting rid of piles threatening to topple. Just looking at them now gives me such delight!

Celebrated Rhett's Birthday!

Finally got my haircut! It feels sooooo much better.

Got new cozy fall blankies for me and Chancer at Aldi

Last weekend I helped my sister with a garage sale
The boys were less than pleased when they had to watch from inside.

Isaac had a lemonade stand

Sunday we celebrated September birthdays- Rhett, Dad/Papa and Mikayla

There was much laughter!

How is it possible this little nugget turned 26 on Monday!

Dark, chilly mornings mean cozy quiet times-

The cookbook I preordered months ago came on Tuesday! I can not wait to make every single recipe! I baked the first recipe in the book last night.  My favorite pretzel bites recipe is included which makes me super happy!

Wednesday Rhett and I went to see Adam Sandler.  We had a good time. He was a bit more crass than I was expecting, slightly disappointed in that. And that I ended up having to throw away my purse because I couldn't bring it into the building. 😕 I was expecting it to be searched but not to be told it was "too big".  Ah well, I should have checked the rules for myself before we went. I crammed stuff in my pockets and my jacket but ended up tossing the bag (or Rhett did rather, I didn't watch, sadness). I still feel pretty sad about it. It was one I made like 15 years ago and a favorite. But I suppose I could sew myself a new one...

The show felt a little long and I got antsy (it was well past my bedtime and the seats were not comfortable- think hockey stadium) but Rhett enjoyed every second. 😂 And I enjoyed being with him so overall win-win.

*not my photo, our seats were not that good 😂
poached from FB-
besides we weren't allowed to take photos.

Happy September- 19 days late! I hope you have a good one so far.

end of summer adventures

The last weekend of August my sister and I planned a beach day. The weather did not cooperate- our fault I suppose for waiting so long.  But we still had a day packed with delight and adventure.

We started off visiting a The Chicken Ranch Country Store. We snagged a few September birthday gifts and her boys each picked a toy.  After which we headed to a near by(ish) coffee shop we had been wanting to try for a late breakfast, The Bloomin' Cup

We went back to Laura's to regroup and then head to Lake Ontario- because of the weather instead of the beach we planned to visit we headed to Chimney Bluffs State Park. We read there was a nice hike along the cliffs and a rocky beach where the boys could play, and we could still stare out at the water for awhile and refresh our souls.

Evan took a little snooze on the drive up.

The views from the bluffs were stunning-

The boys had a blast when we made it down to the beach

The long trek back...

We stopped on the way home for dinner-

And ICE CREAM! 😎🍨🍦

It was a long, tiring, delightful, soul filling day. I am so thankful I get to share adventures with my sister and her boys.
