Spoiler alert: I did not get a PR but was so very close! I was bummed for a bit but I think I am just about over it now.
I got pretty anxious last night about what to wear, I checked the weather about 80 times, debating back and forth. It was supposed to be 47ish degrees at the starting time, warming to around 60. finally decided on my Snyder Tee from last year's Pittsburgh Half. It was pretty chilly at the start and I am glad I brought the arm warmers as well. But the sun was shining and I warmed up as soon as we were off. It was such a beautiful morning to run!
Mom picked me up at 7am, to accompany me to the race, be my cheerleader and photographer. I am so happy she did. I said I didn't care, that I would go even by myself. But I am so happy Mom was there. :D One of the race photographers snapped a pic of mom pinning on my bib, I'll be interested to see if that one makes it into the race photos!

Waiting at for the start.
I snapped a selfie just after the midway point...running down hill. Feeling pretty good. ;) I was particularly proud when just a bit after this running down the biggest hill my pace actually dipped down into the 9's.
I am really pleased with how I felt over all through out the race. The
second to last hill I was maintaining an 11:09 pace going UPHILL. I was
so psyched and felt like I was rocking it then.
Headed up the final big hill.
Drawing near the top of this hill, I could see the turn back into the park and runners heading toward the finish. As I turned into the park, I felt really great. Feeling like I had done my best and that no matter what I would be pleased and proud at the finish.
Whatever. I really, really wanted to do better. However, I felt so much better, I enjoyed it so much more this year. So let go of the time Amy...its not all about the time. Its about the experience.
There are some pro pics
HERE at Syracuse.com, as well as a little write up on the race.
Afterward, Mom and I headed straight for Fleet Feet to be there when the doors opened at 10. We were the second ones through the door and got right in get get fitted for shoes.
This turns out (as I expected) is a bit of a nerve wracking process for someone like me. I was happy I actually had a couple specific complaints about my current shoes to tell her. Which we fixed with my new ones. I fear I wasn't enthusiastic enough for the sales lady. She kept saying, I am just not sure that you love these shoes, that you are convinced 100% these are the shoes for you. I was so uncomfortable having her scrutinize me as I ran back and forth on their little track, coupled with the fact I came straight there from running 6 miles and wasn't sure I wanted a complete stranger leaning that close to me to touch my feet and tie my shoes. She finally looked at me and asked, "Do you tend to be a bit indecisive?" To which Mom and I both laughed and I admitted I was (to say the very least!) She finally consented to let us just buy the shoes, saying if I took them out for a run and decided they were not right I could bring them back.
The socks I am a huge fan of. Haha, I think I was more excited about the socks. So soft and cushie, I can't wait to try them out on a run. She said they will make me a sock snob...I think she maybe right.
The shoes are growing on me. I haven't had a chance to really try them out yet. Hopefully tomorrow evening. I wasn't crazy about the fact the are white. I fear they will soon be dirty and dingy. But you don't pick running shoes based on color...although I can't help but wish it was allowed to factor in, at least a little.
In my head I have readjusted my goal for PGH to 2:45...I am still reaching for 2:30 but just don't think that's realistic. In fact...I don't even know if I will come in under last years 2:54...I guess two weeks and a few hours from now I will know....
