Tuesday Update

Vacation thus far has been lovely. Yesterday the sun was shining brightly. We went to the board walk and visited a stretch of beach there.  We even dipped our toes in the chilly Atlantic waters. Collected a few more sea shells.  I think Hannah would have been content to sped most of the day playing in the surf.
We had lunch at a local pancake house on our way back to the hotel. We spent most of the afternoon at the hotel pool. :)

Today was a bit of a rainy day.  We headed to the Wonder Works to spend the afternoon indoors.  The kids very much enjoyed running a muck checking out the various hands on sciencey exhibits.  A favorite was the bed of nails. We wandered around the Broadway at the Beach mall...Hannah made a new best buddy at Build-a-Bear. She still had a gift card from Christmas.  She made EB {a bunny} from the movie HOP.

We have been enjoying family game times.  Laughing, until our bellies ache and tears come to our eyes.

Vacation!!!

Sitting in the hotel living room watching the waves roll in on the beach...

I LOVE the Ocean. So very much! I never get tired of it.

Today is Day Three of our vacation. It is a very long trip from Syracuse area NY to Myrtle Beach,SC...the longest one I have taken in a very long time! ;P At time it didn't seem worth it... especially when I was sitting in the very back seat of the van..it was an adventure getting out at rest stops!....But now that we are here... :D

Yesterday we woke up to snow on the beach!
We walked up the street to the Ocean View Baptist Church. :) It was a great service, although it seemed short.  But spoke to my heart.

Sunday was very enjoyable. The kids went swimming twice in the indoor pool. Mom, Mik and I visited the Myrtle Beach Mall.  Mikayla got a new bathing suit and we found a dress for $20 for her eight grade formal.  She was ecstatic!

We briefly visited the beach.  The wind was very cold yesterday!  Looking forward to visiting the beach again today now that the air is warmer and the sun is shining brightly!

Visit the gift tab at the top to see my list of gifts. :D

Didn't see that coming

This morning I spent sometime sewing for my Mikayla.  She has been telling me for sometime that I should make her a new quilt.  In fact when I as I spread Liam's quilt on my lap, happily proclaiming it was finished, the end for last June, her first words were... I know what your next project should be...a quilt for ME!  I laughed at the time.  But the truth is I had started one a couple years back but only made 3 blocks.  Life got in the way, I just didn't have time to commit to it.  It was tucked away in a bag waiting to be finished.  I wasn't sure if she liked it, wasn't sure if I liked it.  Stuck it in my project drawer and pretty much forgot about it.  This weekend something prompted me to pull it out.  I laid it in front of her asking for her honest opinion.  She giggled and proclaimed it perfect!

Okay then, I guess I will finish it for you! :) I smiled, happy at the thought of quilting again.  The weekend passed without opportunity to stitch up another block.  Last night at the Super-fellowship party, a few people commented on my lack of quilting project.  I told them of the one I had recently re-started for Mik.  This morning I finally cleaned off the kicthen table, dusted off the ole sewing machine and pieced the 4th block for her quilt... only 8 more to go!

And here are the 4 completed blocks so far.

What surprised me though was the memories and nostalgia that struck as I sat at my sewing machine.  you see the pattern is one I have made before.  Twice in fact.  The first one was a kit.  I bought it with my Christmas money.  It was a hope and a promise.  It was not an easy time...who knew 4 years later I would unexpectedly long for those days.  I miss the kids being little.  I miss having them home.  I miss being Auntie Amy.  My thoughts are with all the littles that were in my care back then. Josh, Kenna, Dakota and Sydney. <3 Praying for you today.

It makes me sad that Dakota and Sydney, if they remember me at all probably only have vague recollections of me.  I was once such a big part of their little lives.
