The Last of April... Springtime and saying good-bye

Spring is here. School is in the final quarter. Our kids were able to go back 4 days in person for the final marking period. I am so thankful!

Mikayla is graduating from college in 8 days! So unreal.

Some of our backyard flowers.

We had some visitors the other night while I was making dinner...

Hannah and I made some super yummy zucchini fries in the air fryer this weekend. She liked them too!

Rhett and I went on our usual breakfast date Saturday morning.  Then in the afternoon we went to his cousin's farm, walked out back to see this waterfall. Stumbled across these pretties growing in the woods too.

Chance and I also enjoyed a little bit of Hammock Time.

Chance always makes it so easy to put fresh sheets on the bed. I got him to move one time to put on the fitted sheet- he refused to get off the bed. :P

I'm trying to be more mindful of what I am putting in my body.  I have been enjoying smoothies and salads this week.  I just love my Salad Cutting Bowl and the Measure, Mix and Pour.  I made the dressing recipe right on the side of the bottle- I also added in a capful of Greek Rub.

Saw some turtles on my run  Tuesday night-

Tonight is the end of an era.  I am heading to Grammy's house for the last time.

It's just a house I keep telling myself... but it is so much more. My heart of so very sad.

These potholders hung on Grammy's fridge for most of my childhood, strawberry magnets included. I made the top one when I was 7.

I hung them on my fridge this week and they brought me comfort.

If you think of me this weekend- my family and I could use some prayers...

My first Stitch Fix!... and SNOW

Well, wasn't this a fun sight to wake up too!

Seriously, Monday night I ran in shorts!

Last night it was 36 and snowing!

I pulled my phone out of my pocket half way and tried to take a picture- of course it died! Why did I do this?!?  I knew this would happen- given the cold.

So the 2nd half of my run was very quiet. See I even snapped a pre-run selfie in anticipation of not being able to take a post run picture.

Monday I got my first Stitch Fix Box- my friend talked me into trying it and I LOVED it!

I kept the following 3 tops-

I love the neckline on this shirt-

I sent back this top and the jeans. Which made me a little sad because the sweater was amazingly soft! But I just didn't like the way it looked on me.  The jeans I like ok- felt a little tight in the legs and cost a little too much if I didn't LOVE them & couldn't live without them!

I wore two of the tops this week to work. =D

I tried a new sourdough recipe last night and baked it this morning-

I don't have a cast iron dutch oven yet.  I baked this in the Dutch Oven RockCrok.
I can't wait to cut into it!

Monday night I made General Tso Chicken Stir Fry- I love this recipe! So yummy and easy.  I have also made it with all veggies for Mikayla and also with tofu as well.  We served it over rice and with frozen egg rolls cooked in the Air Fryer.  I love how bright and colorful it is!

Tuesday I picked up my library holds- my best friend gave me the most amazing library bag for my birthday last year and it makes me happy everytime I use it!

And just because... dogs.

For Today ~ It is Thursday, April 15

Looking out my window ~ not my window per say but it was beautiful on my run yesterday

I am thinking ~ where did the time go... part of me wonders what happened to those two kids. We were 19 and 18 years old.  Rhett's bootcamp graduation about 5 months before we tied the knot... the rest is history I guess.

 Approx. 23 years later...

I am thankful ~ honestly I'm in a bit of a funk today... I'm trying to break out of it.  I'm not feeling very thankful... But I am.

  • thick cushy socks
  • dogs
  • coffee

One of my favorite things ~ Saturday morning breakfast dates

I am wearing ~ my glasses- one of those days where contacts just felt like too much work

I am reading ~ Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want to Come by Jessica Pan

It is funny and thought provoking...

I am hoping ~ a better day...

In my kitchen ~ I finally tried making a rotisserie chicken in my airfryer! SO AMAZING!

I made one on Monday night too and used it to make these super delicious Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas.

In my garden ~ hopefully our daffodils and tulips will be blooming soon- they seem to be a bit sloooowwww

Board room ~ I wish I had somewhere fancy to go and wear a dress like this, and that I was classy enough to pull it off.

"Sam goes along with it, but the depths of my neuroses are a foreign country to him. He doesn’t understand why, for example, I prefer dogs to people. But that’s easy. Dogs don’t require small talk, they don’t judge you, and they don’t hum near your desk while you’re trying to work. They don’t ask when you’re going to have kids. Or cough on you. But to Sam, dogs have wild eyes, might put their dirty paws all over you, and are ready to strike at any moment, which is exactly how I feel about humans." ~ from Sorry I'm Late, I Didn't Want to Come

Happy Monday!

It's a bit gloomy out there but my heart is thankful. I've been feeling a bit blah lately so it feel good to actually feel happy.

I was encouraged this morning when my devotional took me to the same verse I read last night at House Church and both Jesus Calling and the Risen Study I am doing just seemed to reinforce everything from Church/Bible Study yesterday.  To get to know God more, to trust more.

Yesterday we had a baptismal service at our church. It was so wonderful to hear these young people's testimonies and see them taking this step of faith. Baptism services always make me a bit emotional. Two of the girls I had in Kindergarten/1st grade Sunday school. I'm so happy and thankful to be apart of their lives and see the beautiful young ladies they are growing up to be. <3

Sunday morning baking- I tried another batch of sourdough cinnamon rolls. (Didn't overbake this time).

It's been awhile- but we made a new LIVE video this weekend- Philly Cheesesteak Sliders- they were pretty tasty. A little messy.  Also frozen fries in the air fryer.

I also made sweet potato fries- using the Rapid Prep Mandolin and Air Fryer, they came out so yummy.

I was able to get out and walk the dogs this morning before work.  They were very happy.  Planning on a run tonight. - even if its raining. ;-)

FRIDAY!! Running and Books =)

I am so glad its Friday!  This week has seemed so long! Was Easter really only a week ago?

Monday I read two separate devotionals urging me to take care of the body God has given me.

Last night around dinner time I seriously had less than 2000 steps... All. Day. Long.
So in an effort to move more- I signed up for another running Challenge- Here's to 50 miles in April!
I'm also looking forward to getting back to walking the dogs in the morning now that it is light earlier and the weather better.

Wednesday night I took myself for a little run around Green Lakes! =)

Last was book club- we read this book- The Way of Love by Tracie Peterson.  Which I really enjoyed. Christian Historical/Romance Fiction is my FAV!

Next Month we are reading a non-fiction.  Something a bit different for us.  Our book club meets via zoom so really anyone can join- let me know if you would like the info... I am really interested to read this one.  The Women of the Bible Speak by Shannon Bream

Thought for today- it popped up in my memories from the book- Only Love Today

I signed up for a virtual book tour talk (the April 19 one) and ordered a signed copy of this book last night. I guess one good thing about no in person book tours is I get to virtually participate in some I would never have the chance to otherwise! This one is in Wisconsin.

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book. I LOVED the other two I have read by this author.  The Coincidence of Coconut Cake and The Simplicity of Cider
